Soft wood lye...
...is a bleaching agent for wood. It removes the yellow pigments from the wood and stops it from yellowing over time. This dresser has been bleached with soft wood lye to bleach the pine. It was then treated with Master oil - white to seal and protect the wood. The dresser's oak top was also treated with Master Oil, though it was not bleached.
